Precision

Intra-assay Precision (Precision within an assay):Three samples of known concentration were tested twenty times on one plate to assess intra-assay precision.

Intra-Assay CV: ≤5.5%

Inter-assay Precision (Precision between assays):Three samples of known concentration were tested in five separate assays to assess inter-assay precision.

Inter-Assay CV: ≤10.7%

Recovery
Recovery was determined by spiking various levels of Glycosylated hemoglobin A1c into serum and plasma.

Linearity
The linearity of the kit was assayed by testing samples spiked with appropriate concentration of Glycosylated hemoglobin A1c and their serial dilutions. The results were demonstrated by the percentage of calculated concentration to the expected.

General Annotation

Sub Unit:
N/A

Function:
In the normal 120-day lifespan of the red blood cell, glucose molecules react with hemoglobin, forming glycosolated hemoglobin. In individuals with poorly controlled diabetes, the quantities of these glycosolated hemoglobins are much higher than in healthy people.

Location:
Glycosylated hemoglobin (hemoglobin A1c, HbA1c, A1C, or Hb1c; sometimes also HbA1c) is a form of hemoglobin that is measured primarily to identify the average plasma glucose concentration over prolonged periods of time. It is formed in a non-enzymatic glycation pathway by hemoglobin's exposure to plasma glucose. Normal levels of glucose produce a normal amount of glycosolated hemoglobin. As the average amount of plasma glucose increases, the fraction of glycosolated hemoglobin increases in a predictable way. This serves as a marker for average blood glucose levels over the previous months prior to the measurement.
